A Compassionate Jesus!

Hey Everybody, This year I have decided to read through the entire Bible. I am using one of the reading plans on Bible Gateway’s site. You know how you’ve read a scripture before, but you read it again and a “light” comes on; or it causes you to pause and ponder. Well I am using the reading plan that allows you to read some of the Old Testament and The New Testament at the same time. In reading The New Testament, I’m reading a lot about Jesus – as I have done many times before. But in reading about Jesus casting out demons and healing the sick, it mentions many times how Jesus was moved or filled with compassion. Compassion? I think I know what compassion means, but I decided to look it up in the dictionary (my sister/asst. pastor does this a lot). Compassion is defined as a deep awareness of the suffering of another. Jesus is deeply aware of our sufferings. He’s see us right where we are, and just as He healed the sick, He will do the same for us. Healing can take place in a...

JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY!

If you are a Christian, and you are using the Bible as your source of truth and guide for life, then you should know and understand that Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven. A lot of people that read this blog are family and good friends of mine, and they know and love me no matter what I say or believe. But for those that do not know me as well I want you to understand that I’m only going to speak the truth here. And if I can’t back what I am saying with the Word of God, then I don’t say it. I understand that there are different denominations and churches, and not all of my family, friends and potential new friends go to the same church as I do. I only know what is being taught in my church by my pastor, and if it is not in the Word of God she doesn’t preach it. There was a pole taken that stated that 57% of evangelicals, Christians, believe that there are other ways to get to Heaven, to have salvation. If your pastor is preaching that there are other ways to get to Heaven a...

Who or What is Greater than God to You?

Well Glory, Hallelujah! I know my God is good, and He is good all the time. I tell you what…..that ‘old slue-footed devil has been busy. One day I’ll go into detail about all that has been going on, but I know I have the VICTORY in Jesus! I have had to fight the good fight of faith. I know the devil is not happy with me, and I DON’T CARE! And because he (the enemy/devil) is trying to mess with me and mine, I’m messing with him and his. If you haven’t been to the blog lately, then you will see that there is a sinner’s prayer on the left side. I am going to win as many souls as I possibly can. I have a flyer that I going to post up everywhere that I can. The devil wants to mess with me and “try” to do some damage; well, LET’S WINS SOME SOULS AND DO SOME DAMAGE TO THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS! But our God is so so good. What the devil has meant for harm, God has turned for our good. I am reading through the Bible this year, and in Genesis 50:20 it’s talking about Joseph and what hi...

The Gift of Jesus

Hello my fellow brothers and sister in Christ Jesus. God is still on the throne, and His promises are yes and amen. I just love, love, love this time of year (Christmas and New Years). It’s a time that people are happy and enjoying family, friends and food. It’s a time for us to give and think of others rather than ourselves. We are reminded how Jesus was born to give His life for us, and we also recognize, with the New Year, the grace God has given us to start anew; indeed, everyday is new because everyday God’s mercies are new. I do hope that you remembered to think of Jesus during this holiday season. Maybe you even gave someone the gift of Jesus the best gift that anyone can receive, but if you didn’t don’t worry there is still time. God gave us the gift of His son Jesus. He loved us when we were unlovable when we were not doing things pleasing in His sight. He has graced us through our hard-headedness; harden hearts towards Him and our hard times. God gave the awesome ...

Stop Owning Things that do not Line Up with the Word of God

Praise the Lord! We as children of God, as the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus have the ultimate weapon – The Word of God! It is so important that we study the Word of God in these last days. The enemy is roaming around seeking those he can devour. He desires to get your eyes off the prize which we will receive when Jesus comes back for His own. Now is not the time to fall to the wayside or let the cares of this world cause us to give up, cave in and quit! It’s time to pick up the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and began to wield that sword skillfully in the name of Jesus, and that ‘ol slew-footed devil will cease in his maneuvers and stop in his operations against us. It’s time that we stop buying the lies of enemy. God is for us; therefore, who can SUCCESSFULLY be against us. It may come, but it can’t succeed in Jesus’ name. Whose report will you believe?? I, Shan, will believe the report of the Lord. Saints of God, we’ve been deceived by the devil too long. W...

Things I am Thankful For

Yes we are going to do the obvious for the holiday season. I’m talking being thankful. Yes, we should be thankful every day, but this is a special day set aside jus for this; that’s why it’s called Thanksgiving – just kidding. It is a time where many people take the time to reflect on things they really are thankful for. I personally have so many things to be thankful for, and I’ll share some with you. These are not in any particular order, but as I think about them. I’m thankful for God sending His Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. I’m thankful for His mercies that are new every morning towards me and my family, and for His grace that is sufficient for us. I’m thankful for God’s love towards me, for loving me when I wasn’t doing His Word, for His mercies – giving me a second chance. I’m thankful for God’s Word; His Word is the only truth in my life. I choose each day to live by the truths of His Word and only His Word. His Word says: I am the redeemed of the Lord, and I...

Allowing God's Correction and Discipline

Hello All: Today we are going to talk about an “unpopular” topic – correction, discipline. Though it is unpopular and unpleasant, it is good for us and needs to be discussed. Who wants to get disciplined? My mom disciplined me, and I turned out pretty good. I didn’t like it or appreciated at the time, but looking at it now, I do. There’s no telling what or who I would be if she hadn’t. She made us walk the line; she didn’t play with us. Yes, she was our friend, but she was momma first, and we were going to obey and respect her, and we did and still do. When we did things wrong or not according to the rules of our household, we were corrected and sometimes disciplined. We truly did learn obedience by the things we suffered ( Hebrews 5:8 – smile). Yes it would be good to be able to do just do whatever you wanted, but everything that is good to us or makes us feel good, is not always good for us. Sometimes we need to be told/corrected that these things that make us feel good a...
