Became Flesh

I don’t think we know or will ever know the full ramifications of the disobedience (sin) in the Garden of Eden. Yes, they disobeyed, but it was so much deeper and more harmful than we tend to think. Let’s look at it a little. Yes, they ate of the fruit that they should not have eaten. A lot could be said about this, but that’s not why we are here. I will say that God does test us all, not only to see if we will obey or disobey what He has said, but I believe He also tests our Faith so that we can see if we are indeed operating in Faith and trusting Him. Sometimes we think we are in Faith and trusting Him, when we are actually looking to ourselves and trusting what we can do. But like said, that’s not why we are here.

Yes, Adam and Eve disobeyed by eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Some would think “Yeah, they ate something they shouldn’t have; just forgive them”. But it was so much more than that. When Adam disobeyed, he also gave away all of God’s Creation. God gave Adam authority over all His Creation, everything God created, and he squandered it. Let say that you gave me possession of your multi-million-dollar home with all your valuables in it – money, jewelry, a garage full of vehicles, a private jet and anything else you can think of. While you were away, I did something to lose the claim over all you entrusted to me. This was the same thing. Adam forfeited and gave it over to the enemy. That is why the devil is called the Prince of the World (John 12:13, 2 Corinthians 4:4 & 1 John 5:19). All that God had made was given to the devil because of this one act of disobedience. Through this disobedience, sin was allowed to enter into the world. I’ve said this before in previous blogs, sin ruins everything that it touches. It indeed touched all of God’s Creation. So, this wasn’t just a little act of transgression; this was HUGE!

Not only did mankind fall, but all of creation fell with us. Everything God had made was thrown “out of wack”. The predator could no longer lay down peacefully with the prey. The Earth (all of nature) groans as with pains of labor and waits for the Children of God to be revealed. Nature waiting to be liberated (freed once and for all) from the bondage of decay (ruinous nature of sin). Nature is not waiting for its own sake alone, but also for the revealing of the Children of God – that moment when the True Children of God are fully “redeemed” – raptured and given our glorified bodies. Nature did not choose this decay but was subjected to it by the sin of man in the Garden of Eden. All of God’s creation was bound to this destructive, corruption of sin, but Jesus and Him Crucified will allow us to put on the incorruptible when He comes. You can read about this in Romans 8:18–23.

In John 1:1 (AMP), it says:

In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.

This stating that Jesus, God the Son, was and is the Word of God.

John 1:14 (AMP) goes on to say:

And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception).

Revelation 19:13 also says:

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

So why did God (God the Son – Jesus Christ) become flesh?

Let’s get this straight… God cannot die, but needed to become flesh so He could die for all of humanity. The wage of sin is death. The blood of animals was insufficient to “take away” sin; it could only cover sin. Mankind was born into sin; so, no one in all of humanity could die to pay this wage of sin, death, for all of humanity let alone himself.

So, God became flesh – man – to die (the payment of sin). And where was this done? You guessed it, it was on the Cross of Calvary – The Greatest Victory of ALL TIME! This one act defeated sin in our lives – past, present and future – at least for those of us who believe. Now, this does not give us a “license” to sin; for we who belong to Christ do not habitually sin. As Children of God who mess up at times, God’s Grace, God’s Goodness towards undeserving, saved mankind, is extended to us because of what Jesus accomplished in His Death, Burial and His Resurrection. This is where our Faith should be placed and remain here! At the Cross, the victory over sin was won! At the Cross, IT WAS & IS FINISHED!

Jesus is that Lamb of God who was slain to take away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

It is all here! It’s all in the Bible, the Word of God. I have a blog post about the “Story of the Bible Jesus & Him Crucified”; go read it. The entirety of the Bible is centered around Jesus’ Finished Work (His Death, Burial and Resurrection). God, Jesus – God the Son, was made flesh to die in order to take away sin! He did this in order to save lost humanity. He paid the price of sin (death) which we could not pay ourselves.

This is how powerful sin is. It’s so powerful that God Himself had to come down to Earth and defeat it for us. For it was mankind who committed this grave sin, and God came down, in the flesh of mankind, to pay the debt of this sin as a man (flesh). We mere mortals think that we have the power to defeat and overcome sin with some ten (10) step program, conversations with a professional, or anything else we set up within our own will and think it will work. Pure foolishness!

God gave us the answer for EVERYTHING! It is clear here in the Word of God – who is Jesus – and what He did to redeem mankind was the Cross and, in His Resurrection, His Finished Work!

To have Faith in the Word is to have Faith in Jesus – God the Son – and understanding why the Word of God became flesh. It was to save us! This is God's Plan! Having Faith in the Word of God as mere scripture (written text) and not God the Son who died to redeem your life is not the Faith Jesus will be looking for when He returns.

Forever understand and have Faith in this – His Great Sacrifice for you and me.
